The 2024 Oscars are underway with the biggest stars in film and television arriving on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. And fans can’t wait to see what the silver screen’s elite will wear on the most important night of the awards season.
While most A-listers take the opportunity to dazzle in designer duds, others use their ensembles to make bold statements — be it political — like in 2020 when Award Academy winning actress Natalie Portman wore a black cape by Dior embroidered with the names of the female directors that had been snubbed that year including Greta Gerwig for Little Women.
Perhaps Portman’s move caught the attention of the Academy as this year the actress-turned-director is nominated for best adapted screenplay for the record-breaking film Barbie.
And, who can forget Björk’s now-infamous swan dress at the 2001 ceremony. The eccentric Icelandic singer even simulated laying eggs, scattering six real ostrich eggs on the red carpet, confusing security guards, who thought she’d dropped them accidentally and rushed to pick them up.
With Kanye West’s wife Bianca Censori’s penchant for scantily-clad clothing, fans are wondering if they will be there and if so, what she will, or will not wear.
