An 84-year-old grandmother who married a man from Egypt 47 years her junior has issued a warning to “all vulnerable women online, chatting to scammers and con-artists”.
Iris Jones, a mother of two, made the news when she featured on ITV’s This Morning discussing her unconventional relationship with Mohamed Ibriham, who was 37 at the time. The pair initially connected on Facebook and Iris later travelled to Egypt where they tied the knot in November 2020.
Eventually, the couple hit a rough patch and parted ways last year. She told Closer magazine back then: “I never expected to fall in love with someone 46 years younger than me, but I did. I adored everything about Mohamed.”
She admitted that the relationship became contentious leading to its demise. Offering advice based on her experience, Iris recently posted on Facebook cautioning about the risks involved in falling for people online, reports the Liverpool Echo.
She warned: “A warning to all vulnerable women online, chatting to scammers and con-artists, thinking they are messaging genuine males on legitimate dating sites.”
Further elaborating the danger, she cautioned: “Be aware that they are only interested in getting their filthy paws on your money and will sweet-talk you for weeks, or even months in order to achieve their goal.”
“I, myself, have been targeted by four scammers in the last few months and regard myself now as a competent scam hunter!”
Iris declared she had dispatched a “final email” to the scammer, accusing them of attempting to swindle her out of a hefty sum. She continued: “I have really enjoyed being the puppet master, having you dance to my tune. It only remains for me to say that I am delighted that you exited my life EMPTY-HANDED! ! ! ! Tootle-pip, sunshine.”
