After Elvis’ record received great reactions from listeners, Martindale (who was a host on WHBQ while a college student) phoned Elvis up since Dewey wanted to interview him about That’s All Right.
Martindale went on to become the host of the TV show Teenage Dance Party on which Elvis, who had become his friend, made an appearance on June 16, 1956.
